The Minster/Postmaster-General of Posts and Telecommunications, Hon. Jeremiah C. Sulunteh, together with his Senior Staff, is expected to receive on Tuesday 19 May 2009, the Universal Postal Union consultant, Mr.Guenter Boehm. Mr. Boehm is visiting the postal family for the second time from the Federal Republic of Germany. The consultant is in the country for two weeks and is expected to tour some parts of rural Liberia. During his tour, he will inspect newly constructed and rehabilitated post offices. In Monrovia he will visit local post offices.
After the assessment exercise, Mr. Boehm will hold technical meetings with the Minister and his senior staff and present some draft documents for discussion prior to his departure for his departure for Sierra Leone on June 1, 2009.
In another development, Minister Sulunteh and his team took a two-day tour to western Liberia from from 12-14 May 2009. They toured Gbarpolu, Bomi and Grand Cape Mount counties in continuation of inspecting new and rehabilitated post offices. In the capital city of Gbarpolu county, Bopulu, officials of the county assured Hon. Sulunteh their support for bringing mail delivery service to the people of Gbarpolu. The officials offered the ministry two lots of land near the administrative building to be used for building a new post office.
Departing the county on Tuesday, May 12, in continuation of his tour, Minister Sulunteh was met upon arrival in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, by the entire staff of the post office to a rousing reception. He was taken around to assess the level of mail devliery service to the citizens of Bomi County. In Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount, Hon. Sulunteh dedicated newly built post office on May 13, 2009. The occasion was well attended by a cross section of citizens and officials of Cape Mount county. The last leg of the county tour will take Minister Sulunteh and his team to the eastern and southeastern Liberia.
