The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is charged with handling the postal services of the nation and providing oversight for the Information and Communications Technology sector. The Ministry has experiernced tremendous growth under the administration of Her Excellency, Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia.
Predicted upon mounting demands from postal related customers and ICT users, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications embarked upon the following projects/programs with serious implications on the sector's growth. Amongst the projects/programs are: the Digital Migration Initiative, Internet Exchange Point (IXP), Project Management Office, Universal Access (UA) Program, Chief Information Office, Postal Expansion Project, and Capacity Building.
Consistent with the Ministry's visions to create a paperless working environment in government and facilitate easy access to information in consonance with the Freedom of Information act, the Ministry is pleased to recognize the support of WARCIP Liberia for the establishment of the Project Management Office (PMO). The Project Management Office works in collaboration with the Chief Information Office (CIO) in rolling out basic ICT services on the e-Liberia platform.
Consequently, the CIO Project, through the support of USAID-GEMS is currently providing training amongst Ministries, Agencies and Commissions on the use of shared services and building the basic skills of ICT Professionals across governemnt.
The Ministry maintained the conveyance of mail-able items to other parts of the world during the heat of the Ebola crisis in Liberia.
